| Item Description: | Binder title. Unpublished memoir. Carbon copy typescript in binders with tipped-in postcards. Some sections signed by Hope. Joseph Conrad, Polish-born English author and master mariner, wrote many books about the sea and seafaring. He had several friends who were alumni of HMS Conway a naval training school ship stationed near Liverpool, including Captain George Fountain Weare Hope. Some of Conrad's books contain Conway references or have Old Conways as characters e.g. Heart of darkness, Lord Jim, the Secret sharer. |
