Summary:This documentary discusses a 2006 pilgrimage of Shiite Iranian Muslims to the the Shiite shrine at Karbala, in Iraq. It provides a rare glimpse of Islam's past and present in the Middle East. Under Saddam Hussein's rule, it was impossible for Iranians to make the pilgrimage to Karbala. With Hussein's fall, the pilgrimage can be made but is very dangerous, due to the extreme political, military and religious turbulence in Iraq. Followed by an interview with Professor Vali Nasr.
