Item Description:	Engraved music. "The subscribers names": pages 9-15, first count, volume 1. Title vignettes; initials; head- and tail-pieces, some signed FH (i.e. Francis Hoffman). Plates 4, 17, 41 of volume 1 and 6, 20, 34 of volume 2 printed on both sides; plates 10, 23, 43, 49 of volume 2 printed and numbered on both sides. "For the German flute": third count of both volumes. A handwritten note states, "The Orpheus Caledonius was the first collection of Scotch music ever printed. The first edition appeared in 1725 in the form of a single folio volume. see Blackwoods Magazine for June 1839."
