Summary:	Before the partition of India in 1947, a Sikh truck driver comes to know an aristocratic Muslim girl. During the religious riots that erupt soon after partition, they meet again when he saves her from a murderous mob. As she is now alone, he promises to take her to Pakistan. On the way they fall in love, and she decides to stay with him in India. They marry, have a son, and then she discovers that her family was not killed, but are living in Pakistan. When she goes to visit, her father tries to end her marriage.
