Description
Summary:The Leningrad Cowboys are an American influenced Finnish show-band that likes to parody the clichés of rock stardom, while the Red Army Ensemble was formed to preserve Russian folk music. This event drew 70,000 people, and involved two nations that were at war a half a century ago and then endured a "peaceful coexistence" during the Cold War. What seems an impossible combination of musical styles and tastes becomes a sublime experience, especially when the Red Army musicians pick up their balalaikas to join the Cowboys on Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to heaven".
