Abstract:	The U.S. Department of Energy has issued a challenge to the homebuilding industry to build 220,000 high-performance homes by 2012. The initiative is called Builders Challenge. To qualify, homes must meet the requirements of one of three compliance paths established by DOE: performance path, prescriptive path, or participating in a partner program.
