| Summary: | Madrid, Christmastime 1970: a prostitute gives birth to a son on a city bus in the dead of night. Victor, a handsome young misfit, is neither evil nor violent, but an inexperienced, hungry young man, and things tend go out of control when he is around. One such incident involves Elena, a rich girl dabbling in drugs, a terrible fight, one gun, and two police officers--David and Sancho. Victor, freed from prison, sleeps with the wives of the two officers who put him in jail -- first Sancho's wife Clara, then David's wife Elena, whom he both lusts for and bears a grudge against. The entire history of Spanish repression and guilt seems to gather inside the heads of these men and women. The essential question remains: How, as the grip of the Franco years is broken, will freedom reign? |
