Description
Abstract:In 2005, roundwood output from Kentucky's forests totaled 191 million cubic feet, 3 percent more than in 2003. Mill byproducts generated from primary manufacturers increased 2 percent to 91 million cubic feet. Ninety-six percent of plant residues were used, primarily for fuel, miscellaneous, and fiber products. Saw logs were the leading roundwood product at 143 million cubic feet; pulpwood ranked a distant second at 25 million cubic feet; composite panels were third at 14 million cubic feet. The number of primary processing plants declined from 297 in 2003 to 292 in 2005. Total receipts increased 2 percent to 214 million cubic feet.
