L'amour magot, is a fable about the dangers of romantic love in an inexperienced young heroine. The 'lettres infernales' are written by inhabintants of hell. One letter is written from a bookseller, addressed to his colleagues on earth in which he discusses hell's booktrade. Cf. Bookseller's note.
