| Item Description: | The Cushing Library/Laughlin Collection copy has fore-edge paintings on all four volumes. Volume 4 contains 24 pages of preliminary matter, "Lettera Dell'editore Al Signor di Voltaire," "Riposta," "Al Celeberrimo Signor di Voltaire," and "Accuse di Alguni Letterati Francesi Contro L'Ariosto..." which is wanting in the Cushing Library/Dawson French Coll. copy. The Laughlin Collection copy also contains the bookplate and shelfmark of Newbattle Abbey Library and the nameplate of Helen Braun Landrum in all four volumes.
Both copies are wanting the letter "A" on the title page of t.4 in the word "[A]riosto," but this has been supplied by hand in the Cushing Library/Dawson French Coll. copy. |
