Description
Item Description:Attributed by Evans to Benjamin West, but the actual calculator was Elisha Thornton. The astronomical notes and clock equations on the calendar pages (with a few omissions), the ephemeris, and the calculations for the moon, are identical with those in his Rhode Island almanack for 1794 (Warren, R.I.). The other calculations vary in part, reflecting the difference in meridian between the two almanacs. The eclipse predictions are close versions of each other.
Advertised in the United States chronicle, Providence, Oct. 24, 1793.
The illustration is an eclipse diagram on the title page.
