| Item Description: | Two states noted, differing in the title vignettes used and in the imposition of forms in gathering B. In one state, signature B is a gathering of four leaves followed by a gathering of two; "Entertaining scraps." appears on page [19]. In the other state, gathering B consists of three quired sheets; "Entertaining scraps." is on page [20]. The two states are respectively identical (except for the title and the title vignettes) with the two variant states of Bickerstaff's Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhodeisland, Newhampshire and Vermont almanack for 1799 (Salem: Nathaniel and John Coverly). The last pages of the first Bickerstaff variant are in a different order. Still another issue of the first Weatherwise/Bickerstaff variant was printed as the Farmer's almanack for 1799, with imprint: Massachusetts: Printed for and sold by the booksellers (Evans 33709). Another issue of the second variant appeared with the Weatherwise title and the imprint: Medford: Printed by Nathaniel Coverly. Advertised in the Massachusetts Mercury, Boston, Nov. 16, 1798. Electronic resource. |
