Description
Item Description:By Osgood Carleton. The calculations on the calendar pages are identical with those in his An astronomical diary: or, An almanack for 1791 (Boston: S. Hall). The eclipse predictions (page [2]) are also identical, except that only three of the four cuts in the Astronomical diary have been copied for the present almanac. The notes on the calendar pages are closely similar and frequently identical, except that the present almanac omits half of them, particularly the astronomical material.
Typographically identical, except for the title vignette, to the issue with imprint: Boston: Printed and sold by the booksellers, in town & country.
Another edition, identical in typography and contents, was published with the latter imprint, under title: Bickerstaff's genuine Massachusetts, Rhode-Island and Connecticut almanack for 1791. Two states of the Bickerstaff edition are known, distinguished by differing title vignettes, which are not the same as those on the Weatherwise issues.
