State of Rhode-Island and Providence Plantations. At a meeting of the General Committee : appointed to act in recess of the General Assembly, convened at Providence, in said state, the 11th day of December, A.D. 1776. Resolved, that all the troops which now are, or may be raised ... for the defence of this state ... shall be under the same rules and regulations as the Continental Army.
