By the president and the Supreme Executive Council of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, a proclamation : Whereas by an inquest held before Samuel Dean, Esq. one of the justices of the peace, in and for the county of Philadelphia, it appears, that Richard Marple, yeoman, late of Moreland township, in the said county, was, while in the prosecution of his lawful business ... killed and murdered ... Given ... at Philadelphia, this twenty-fourth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty-four.
