Description
Item Description:The calendar pages, eclipse notes, and other astronomical material are identical with those in Fry's almanac of the same title published at Portsmouth, N.H., by Charles Peirce. In the preface to his next almanac, An astronomical diary; or Almanac for 1797 (Portsmouth: C. Peirce), Fry states: I think it prudent here to mention, that somebody has taken the liberty to publish an almanac for the meridian of Boston (for 1796) and prefix my name as author: (the calculations probably are mine; but many other matters very different:) by which both myself and the public are much imposed upon: but I here inform that it was not my act, and beg that the public may not be deceived in future.
