Richard Pierce, which was unfortunately cast away, at Seacombe, in the Isle of Purbeck, on the coast of Dorsetshire, on Friday morning, January 6, 1786 : Shewing the paternal behaviour of Capt. Pierce, who preferr'd perishing with his daughters, to the being preserved without them. I. Their sailing from the downs, with a fair wind, and agreeable prospect. II. A list of the amiable young ladies, and gentlemen passengers. III. A strong gale springs up soon after, which occasions them to cut their cables, and run off to sea. IV. A journal of their proceedings and distresses before the ship struck on the rocks of Purbeck, near Portland. V. The whole account of that melancholy event, with the manner of preserving part of the officers and ship's crew. VI. An authentic list of the saved, and other particulars.
