| Item Description: | A statement of Connecticut's western land claim, drawn up by a committee appointed by the legislature in May 1771; along with legal opinions, signed by E. Thurlow and three others. Also known as: State of the case. Four hundred copies were printed late in 1773 at the expense of the colony. Cf. The Susquehannah Company papers, 1967-71, volume 5, page 228. Ascribed to the press of Green and Spooner by Trumbull, who states that this was printed to accompany the "Report of the Commissioners" (Evans 13214). Dated 1774 by Trumbull. Evans supplies the imprint: [New London: Printed by Timothy Green, 1785]; no corresponding entry appears in Johnson, H.A. Checklist of New London imprints. Electronic resource. |
