| Item Description: | The title pages of Strong's almanacs for 1806 and 1807 published at New Haven identify Strong as the author of those formerly issued under the pseudonym of Hosea Stafford. The astronomical material on the calendar pages, and the notes on eclipses and the transit of Mercury on pages [2-3] are practically identical with those in the almanac issued simultaneously under Strong's own name, An astronomical diary, kalender, or almanack, for 1789 (Hartford). The calculations vary slightly in part, reflecting the difference in meridian between New Haven and Hartford for which the two almanacs were respectively calculated. Advertised in the Connecticut journal, New Haven, Oct. 22, 1788. Electronic resource. |
