| Item Description: | Poems written to celebrate the accession of George III, to whom the work is dedicated. Although dated 1761, publication was not authorized by Harvard College until January 5, 1762. Advertised in the Boston gazette, August 30, 1762 as "this day published." The advertisement continues, "This piece has been a considerable while printed: and a number of copies having been sent to England for the King and royal family, it was tho't proper to postpone the publishing of it here, till such time as it might be supposed the copies aforesaid had been presented." Issued on regular and fine paper. Two states of gathering G noted. In the first, page 24, leaves 14 reads "... peace distinguish'd ..."; in the second, "... peac edistinguish'd ..." Two states of gathering T noted. In the first, leaves 14 reads "... videt haud Georgo"; in the second, "... nec Avo videbat". An errata slip is found mounted to blank leaf 2E2 of some copies.
