Later editions bear attribution to either Revised John Wesley or Rev. Rowland Hill. However, the handbill is not referred to in Tyerman's 3 v. Life and times of Wesley (N.Y., 1872), which includes annual bibliographies of Wesley's publications, or in Sidney's The life of Rev. Rowland Hill (N.Y., 1834).
