Description
Item Description:Attributed to Samuel Hall by Evans. Hall is termed the editor and proprietor in Historical collections of the Essex Institute, volumes 8, 1866, page 159.
Advertised in the Essex gazette, Salem, Nov. 24-Dec. 1, 1772. The astronomical predictions and the other material in the notes column on the calendar pages correspond with that in Samuel Stearns' The North-American's calendar for 1773 (Boston), except that the weather predictions vary, maxims are included, and the conjunctions of planets are absent. The extent of the identity seems to evince a common authorship, though the calculations in the other columns vary, being for Salem rather than Boston.
