Description
Item Description:Presumably referring to the fire engine, called Hancock Number 10, which was imported from England and presented to Boston by John Hancock on May 6, 1772. Cf. Brayley, A.W. A complete history of the Boston fire department ... Boston, 1889, page 79. It is likely that the blank forms announcing practice schedules were printed in 1773, after a company was formed and the engine permanently stationed.
