| Item Description: | Verse; first line: What solemn news is this we hear. Erroneously attributed to the Revised Samuel Webster (1718-1796) by Bristol and Shipton & Mooney, who date this [1790]. Although the drownings occurred in 1790, typographical evidence suggests that the broadside was printed well after that date. Perhaps printed at nearby Worcester, Mass. The only known copy, held by the American Antiquarian Society, is a mutilated fragment, lacking lower half of sheet. Text in two columns; printed area measures 13.3+ x 15.5 cm. The words "By Samuel Webster, Sutto[n ...]" are printed at right angles to the text, between the two columns. Electronic resource. |
