Description
Summary:Illusionism throughout art's history is explored in order to provide a platform for a new visual application. Originally, these works of illusionism were labeled Trompe l'Oeil, meaning 'fool the eye,' and this 2D style employed many various techniques. Artistic attributes such as color, light, and perspective were pushed and pulled by the artist to get the desired result of illusionism. Extreme realism was also employed through the attempts to stretch the reality of the understood 2D painting through the canvas and into the viewer's 3D world. In this researcher's case, time, motion, and multiple layers have been added, as well as a shifting of color, light, and perspective, in an attempt to create a new visual, three dimensional application. No longer must the works of illusionism be static, and with these new variables, this researcher has attempted to broaden the idea of illusionism into a new three dimensional genre, in both real and virtual environments. The viewer will understand what is happening as described, but initially may not believe it to be true.
