Hodegus confuted, in a plain demonstration, that the pillar of a cloud and fire, which led the Israelites thro' the wilderness; was not, as Mr. Toland vainly imagines, a fire of human preparation, but the most miraculous and awful presence of God, under the similitude of column of cloud and fire.

Tetradymus : Containing I. Hodegus; or the pillar of cloud and fire, that guided the Israelites in the wilderness, not maraculous, but, as faithfully related in Exodus a thing equally practis'd by other nations and in those places not only useful but necessary. II. Clidophorus; or of the exoteric and esoteric philosophy, that is, of the external and internal doctrine of the antients: the one open and public, accomodated to popular prejudices and the establish'd religions; the other private and secret wherein, to the few capable and discrete, was taught the real truth scripts of all disguises. III. Hypatia; or the history of the most beautiful, most virtuous, most learned, and every way accomplish'd lady; who was torn to pieces by the clergy of Alexandria, to gratify the pride, emulation, and cruelty of their Archbishop Cyril, commonly but undeservedly stil'd Saint Cyril. IV. Mangoneutes: being a defense of Nazarenus, address'd to the right reverend John lord Bishop of London; against his lordship's Chaplain Dr. Mangey, his dedicator Mr. Patterson, and (who ought to have been nam'd first) the reverend Dr. Brett, once belonging to hid Lordship's church.

Some observations offered to publick consideration : Occasioned by the opposition made to Dr. Rundle's election to the see of Gloucester. In which the credit of the history of the Old Testament is particularly considered. To which are added, three tracts, viz. I. An answer to Mr. Stone's second remarks on the case of Abraham, with regard to his being commanded by God to offer up his son Isaac in sacrifice. In a second letter to the Rev. Mr. Stone, M.A. and fellow of the learned society of Wadham-College in Oxford. II. A discourse on sincerity. Wherein is shewn, that sincerity affords just ground for peace and satisfaction in a man's own mind, and renders his conduct justly approvable to every other intelligent being. Occasioned by what Dr. Waterland has lately written on the subject. In a letter to a gentleman. III. A supplement to the tract intitled, The equity and reasonableness of a future judgment and retribution exemplified. In which the doctrine of the eternal and endless duration of punishment to the wicked, is more particularly and fully considered. By Thomas Chubb.
