520 |a This book provides the hazard assessment and risk analysis information which, combined with information on resilience, facilitates the systematic analysis of traumatic stress risk and the proactive and methodical development of mitigation and risk reduction strategies. The contents will provide emergency and other high risk organizations with information that is fundamental to their ability to plan how to promote effective performance and increase the likelihood of adaptive and positive resolution in personnel following exposure to hazardous or adverse operational demands. When this happens, estimates of the capability of personnel to deal with hazardous and adverse work experiences will increase substantially, as will confidence in the planning that precedes the deployment of personnel to deal with the emergencies and disasters that are all too frequent facets of the working lives of emergency, law enforcement and helping professionals.
