| Summary: | A dual mode, weapon-mounted laser to assist the user under both live fire defensive and dry fire training conditions has been developed. Under live fire conditions, the laser performs all the traditional functions of a weapon-mounted laser. In dry fire, the laser fires a synchronized burst of laser light onto the presumed point of bullet impact which provides instant shooter feedback for the weapon's point of aim. This laser is self contained, miniaturized, and available to the user at all times in the field as well on the firing range without further weapon modification beyond the initial laser installation. The device works uses either two standard AAAA alkaline batteries or two field rechargeable NiCad batteries. Recurring costs are minimal. A set of batteries will last for thousands of dry fire shots over a period of weeks or approximately two hours of continuous use under live fire conditions. Laser perceptibility has been optimized. The dry fire laser burst is visible indoors under any normal illumination and requires no target of any kind. True three dimensional target practice is possible as the laser flash is visible on any type and color of surface. |
