The title of each volume begins with a list of its contents; volume 1 is entitled: 'Lazy Lawrence, Tarlton, False key, being the first volume of The parent's assistant'; vol. 2: 'The birth-day present, Simple Susan being the second volume'; vol. 3: 'The bracelets, The little merchants, being the third volume'; vol. 4: 'Old Poz, The mimic, Mademoiselle Panache, being the fourth volume'; vol. 5: 'The basket-woman, The white pigeon, The orphans, Waste not, want not, Forgive and forget, being the fifth volume'; vol. 6: 'The barring out, Eton Montem, being the sixth volume'.
In this third edition, the last word of text on sig. A2 of volumes 5-6 are "left" and "con-" and the pagination of volume 5 is 251,[1]p.
