| Item Description: | Anonymous. Now believed to be the work of Lavergne de Guilleragues, but long attributed to Mariana Alcoforado. Supposed to have been addressed to Noël Bouton, marquis de Chamilly. "The French translation of the lost portugeuese originals has been ascribed to G.J. de Lavergne, [comte] de Guilleragues and also to Subligny" (NUC) - Parallel French and English texts.
