The speech of Stanislaus to the primate and senators, on his being re-elected King of Poland : Containing, I. His reasons for accepting the Crown. II. His assertion, that the affections of the subjects are the King's best and only safeguard. III. His exhortation to the Polanders to oppose the Russians. IV. The great dishonour any nation suffers by consenting to be ignominiously treated, illustrated by the examples of the court of France, and others. V. His method of government. VI. His choice of prime ministers: the character of good and bad ministers; how advantageous the former, and how detrimental the latter, to any nation or people; with examples from the court of France, and others. VII. King Stanislaus's observations on the maxims of the court of France, during his residence there. VIII. His thanks to the primate and electors for their choice of him. To which is added, the manifesto that M. de Chavigni, the French minister, deliver'd the King of Great-Britain; with the French King's declaration of war against the emperor.
