Summary:Genji returns to Japan from America in 1866 during the eve of Japan's Meiji Restoration. He discovers his wife has been sold into prositution to raise money for her ailing father. When he goes to look for her, he falls into the company of political agitators and joins the revolutionary frenzy generated by the lower classes that have been manipulated by the samurai. An "Eijanaika" mood ensues with people dancing in the streets and chanting "Ējanai ka!" (literally "What the hell?" or "Why not?").
