| Summary: | While science and art are often perceived as being dichotomous, the synthesis of the two provides an exciting arena for new expression and cultural advancement. The tradition of kinetic art provides precedence for the joining of the two disciplines and its influence can be observed in the contemporary digital art that evolved from the kinetic movement. The goal of this thesis is to work from the intellectual framework of that art movement to create a real-time physically based simulation as a work of fine art. The research examines the process of creating the artwork from a technical, aesthetic, and theoretical standpoint, and explores methods of displaying the results of the effort. |
