Item Description:Earth originally produced as a silent motion picture (70 min.) in 1930. Bezhin meadow is a partial reconstruction from episodes originally filmed in 1935-1937.
Bezhin meadow based on a scenario by Alexander Rzhevsky.
"A note on this edition: Earth has been available in the USA since it was new, but only in a heavily-censored version. This DVD was mastered from a good-looking 35mm master print imported from the former Soviet Union and is complete and uncensored, with an added orchestral soundtrack. The Russian intertitles are retained with new English superimposed subtitles added. Earth is also adjusted to visually correct speeds; compensating pitch adjustment was made for the music tracks. Bezhin meadow is similarly digitally mastered from 35mm material imported from Russia"--Container.
