Summary:The golem was a popular medieval figure that originated in Talmudic lore. According to legend, this extraordinary powerful "body without a soul" was created in 1560 by Rabbi Judah Loew of Prague to protect and defend the Jewish ghetto. This film is set a generation later, when the Jews of Prague are threatened again. In spite of efforts by the emperor Rudolf II to find and destoy him, the Golem is once again called upon by the Jewish community, this time to save their spiritual leager from execution.
Item Description:Originally released as a motion picture in 1935. This third version was produced in Prague, made with a French cast and became the first talking production of the Golem. It was based on the play by Jan Werich and Jiri Voskovec--P. 1061. Volume III, The Motion Picture Guide, 1986.
