| Summary: | The behavior of a neutrally buoyant horizontal turbulent round jet under a wavy environment was investigated. Progressive waves with different wave amplitudes in an intermediate water depth were used. The Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) technique was employed to measure the velocity fields. The mean velocity and turbulent properties were obtained by applying the phase-average method. The centerline mean velocity distributions, the jet width, and the cross sectional profiles of the mean velocity and turbulent properties of different wave amplitudes and waves phases were demonstrated and compared. The results suggest that the influence of wave amplitudes on the jet dilution rate is significant while the influence of wave phases on the jet behavior is insignificant. |
