Description
Summary:A solid-state laser-based sensor for the detection of the OH molecule is described and demonstrated. Novel technology is implemented to produce a compact and portable solid-state sensor for OH absorption measurement. An external cavity diode laser operating at 1064 nm is amplified in a single-mode fiber amplifier and frequency-doubled in a periodically-poled lithium niobate (PPLN) crystal. The second harmonic radiation is frequency doubled to produce ultraviolet radiation at 266 nm. OH absorption measurements are taken for a hydrogen-air flame in a Hencken burner. The OH absorption profile is resolved in the (2,0) band of the A²[]⁺ - X²[] electronic transition.
