Summary:Pain Anxiety Symptoms Scale is a 40 item questionnaire designed to facilitate the study of pain-related fear and anxiety in chronic pain populations with the goal of improving treatment outcome. Items were developed for inculsion in four subscales: fearful appraisal, cognitive anxiety, physiological anxiety, and escape/avoidance. Patients are asked to rate each item on a six-point scale.
