Summary:The Assessment of Strategies in Families-Effectiveness (ASF-E) is a quick screening tool to determine individual family members' perception of the functioning of their family. It estimates the effectiveness within four dimensions of family functionaing: stability (system maintenance and togetherness), system change, individuation, and external support. The instrument is based on the framework of systemic organization and was designed as a short screening instrument for nurses to use to assist them in estimating the need for a referral.
