Description
Summary:This work concentrates on circuit realization of high speed and low voltage switched capacitor circuits, with emphasis on the operational transconductance amplifier (OTA). An overview of switched capacitor circuits is given. Speed and voltage requirements of OTA's used in switched capacitor circuits are discussed. An OTA architecture, suitable for low voltage supplies and standard CMOS processes, is proposed. This architecture makes use of common mode feedforward (CMFF). The benefits of CMFF are studied in detail. It is shown how CMFF can improve the performance of pseudo-differential OTA's. An OTA based on the proposed architecture is designed in a 0.5 []m CMOS process available from MOSIS. Simulation results of the amplifier are presented. A switched capacitor filter making use of the designed OTA was fabricated and tested. The testing methodology is described and the results are presented.
