Summary:Shows towns, rivers, forests along the route of the U.S. Army 5th Armored Infantry Division during World War II as it moved from just northeast of Paris on 30 August 1944, continuing the push through France and Belgium, reaching the Rhine River 5 March 1945, including the dates and times each objective was reached and taken. Part of Patton's 3rd Army, the 5th Division were the first American troops to break the Siegfried line and enter Germany, subsequently helping repulse a German counterattack in the Ardennes by an attack from south of Eupen during the Battle of the Bulge (Dec.-Jan. 1944).
