Description
Summary:Many routing protocols have been proposed for mobile ad hoc networks. Traditionally routing protocols have been implemented in the kernel of the operating system. The main reasons for this are performance and security. This research explores an alternative architecture where routing is implemented in the user level. User level implementation has many benefits, such as ease of implementation, co-existence of multiple protocols, application specific customizations, and ease of deployment. This thesis proposes a design architecture for implementing routing protocols in the user level. This research proposes a broadcast based routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks. The protocol has been implemented in the user level using the proposed architecture. The implementation details and performance analysis of the protocol are also presented.
