Description
Summary:The primary purpose of the study was to determine the user satisfaction (approval) of community education stakeholders in the New Braunfels Independent School District with the community education program. Further, the study examined the impact of community education experience by stakeholders on their attitude toward the regular K-12 public school program. The population for the study consisted of 174 stakeholders who responded to the New Braunfels Independent School District's Community Education Survey. A sample of two hundred forty-five (245) participants was randomly selected from a roster of approximately 1145 enrolled in community education classes. Research findings of this study: 1. Eighty-eight percent of the community education stakeholders have a positive attitude toward the community education programs in the New Braunfels Independent School District. 2. The New Braunfels Independent School District should expand the course offerings with the same quality of program. 3. The district should continue to allow stakeholders to have access to existing and new facilities. 4. Less than 10% of the district's taxpayers were involved in community education. The district should increase its effort to include "new" stakeholders that could enhance the support (other 90%) for public K-12 school programs and possible bond issue referendums in the future. Recommendations for Further Study: 1. A study should be conducted of non-community education stakeholders to see if differences exist in the level of support for the public school K-12 program and the passage of bond referendums. 2. A study should be conducted on all youth programs of the districts' after school and evening enrichment to determine if school age students are experiencing the same level of satisfaction as compared to the adult stakeholders.
