Jerry Mulligan (Kelly) plays a struggling American painter in Paris. He is "discovered" by an influential heiress who is interested in more than Jerry's art. Jerry in turn falls for Lise, a perfume-shop clerk already engaged to a cabaret singer, and romantic complications abound.
