Summary:	After a 1996 tornado caused major damage in Urbana, Illinois, building inspectors started to examine its model building codes. Based on traditional building methods, these codes had clearly been proven ineffective in preventing wind damage. Urbana responded to the disaster by developing a Wind Damage Mitigation Program to educate code officials, builders, and homeowners about the wisdom of changing the way homes are constructed to better resist wind damage. This video was developed as part of that program.
