Hillary Fairfield, who was shell-shocked during World War I, escapes from a mental asylum on the very day that his ex-wife is to remarry. When he returns home, he is jolted by a meeting with his daughter Sydney, who comes to realize she may have inherited the streak of insanity from her father.
