| Summary: | The major purposes of this study were to investigate, training tasks and frequencies for municipal police agency tactical units in the 25 largest cities, by population, throughout the United States as they relate to preparation for incidents involving Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). The findings of this study may offer police administrators and other interested professionals information for program development in the area of WMD training for police tactical units. The objectives of this study were accomplished by: 1) identifying instruments which measure training tasks and frequencies of police tactical teams and identifying who/ what types of agencies outside the departments at the local, state and federal levels for which these teams were trained. This information was gathered by incorporating these items into a self-reporting fax questionnaire, 2) distributing the questionnaire to the nationwide population of municipal police tactical teams, and 3) analyzing the gathered data to address five research questions. |
