Homogenization and global existence of solutions to reaction-diffusion systems /

We consider systems of weakly coupled semilinear parabolic differential equations and elliptic differential equations with highly oscillatory diffusion coefficients. We show that if sup-norm bounds can be obtained independent of the diffusion coefficients then the solutions converge to the solution...

520 |a We consider systems of weakly coupled semilinear parabolic differential equations and elliptic differential equations with highly oscillatory diffusion coefficients. We show that if sup-norm bounds can be obtained independent of the diffusion coefficients then the solutions converge to the solution of the associated homogenized system as the frequency of oscillation increases. We also establish criteria on the vector fields that guarantee such sup-norm bounds exist independent of the diffusion coefficients. This work extends previous results of Fitzgibbon, Langlais and Morgan.
