Through the use of scenarios, the panelists discuss how the role of faculty in developing online courses is seen differently than their role in writing textbooks or creating other works, the ownership rights of faculty vs. their institutions regarding jointly developed online courses, the rights of faculty members to take their online courses with them when they leave for positions at other universities, and the implications of allowing faculty members to sell their online courseware to competing institutions.
