Description
Summary:This dissertation examines demand for money in the existence of credit from both theoretical and empirical perspectives. The theoretical work shows that rational individuals use money alongside with credit in doing their transactions in the market. The utility of the household is seen to be affected by the market structure in which the firm operates. The empirical work, on the other hand, shows that inclusion of credit explains some of the anomalies in the demand for money function, and credit produces more accurate forecasts.
